MEMPHIS, Tenn., September 16, 2026 – Led by three Fleet Maintenance Senior Technicians who have previously earned Grand Champion recognition at The Technology & Maintenance Council’s National Skills Competition, FedEx Freight is set to field a 10-technician team to compete at this year’s competition being held in Pittsburgh Sept. 20-21.
TMCSuperTech is a two-day event. Day One features various table-top and hands-on skills challenges that replicate what fleet maintenance technicians encounter at their shops. Competitors will take a written exam and are invited to attend a technician training fair on Day Two. Station awards and overall champions will be announced during a banquet the evening of Sept. 21.
FedEx Freight technicians have dominated the annual competition in recent years. A FXF technician has earned Grand Champion honors in each of the last 11 TMCSuperTech competitions in which FedEx Freight has fielded a team.
Returning to defend the title is reigning Grand Champion Matt Sloan of Jacksonville, Florida. Sloan led a FedEx Freight sweep of the top two positions in 2025, with Kelby Bentley of Greensboro, North Carolina, finishing as runner-up. Bentley previously captured the Grand Champion title in 2019.
Also returning this year is Eric Vos of Boise, Idaho, one of the most accomplished competitors in TMCSuperTech history. Vos earned back-to-back Grand Champion titles in 2015 and 2016. He has also finished as national runner-up three times and has eight total Top 10 finishes.
